Description: Rafer is back with another level, and it's another banger. It's been 1 and a half years since Sky Tower, which is crazy to me. It definitely doesn't feel that old. I guess that goes to show how memorable Rafer's levels are. His older levels are also very memorable to me. It may also be due to the fact that I have to practice them a lot to the get the coins, though. The coin route is shown at 2:26. Like most of his most recent works, this is a themed level mixing design and art well. Many block designs and decorations are what we saw from him before he did themed levels, but there's a lot of art here and there to improve the theming. Obviously, the main attraction in this level is the bossfight. It's been 4 years since he released SLAM, which is another really memorable level by the way, and that was the last time he did a bossfight. I praised that for its playability and unique design in terms of the boss itself and its attacks. It did look a bit derpy at times, though, and I can definitely say that The Tempest improves on that tenfold. The boss has a very cool design that allows for dynamic movements. It's also got a changing design throughout the level, as well as some different perspectives, which is nice to see. There's a huge variety of attacks, which all feel fair to play against. He has always been one of the best at making intuitive gameplay in my opinion, and he does it so well even for bossfights. I can't think of many other creators who can make a bossfight feel so exciting to play while being so easy. There's not really too much else to say. This is another awesome Rafer level that will definitely get an Epic rating. It will probably be 7 Stars. - COIN RATING - Viprin Certified. 4/4. As usual, a Rafer level comes with 3 cool and difficult coins. They make the level a different experience, not only in terms of gameplay and difficulty, but also visually. They all have original touches, making me give them a Viprin Certified rating. I'd recommend beating the level both with and without coins if you're a fan of this. They don't increase the difficulty as much as most of his previous coins, making them less annoying, and I think people will appreciate that. • 1st coin: Viprin Certified. At 2:32, you have to go above the gravity portal, and while going down there's an invisible trigger orb to click. This makes the monster you're on sink, taking you into the first coin route. The path here is slightly harder than the normal route. At 2:46, you get a fist collectible. Using this, you can break through the ground at 2:51. These mechanics to reach below the normal route are original and executed very well. After some more alternate gameplay, the coin is received at 3:02. • 2nd coin: Viprin Certified. During the first coin route, at 2:40, you have to skip the yellow orb. This moves it way further into the level to be used there instead. It's worth noting that you can skip a yellow orb in the normal route as well. In other words, you don't have to get the 1st coin to get the 2nd. The orb shows up at 3:21, and clicking it takes you above the normal route. With the fast speed and camera movement, some of these jumps are definitely harder than the normal route. The trigger orb at 3:26 releases the yellow orb, which falls on the train and explodes, allowing you to enter the train before the transition. Doing this alternate path releases a skull that collects the key above the normal path at 3:38, and unlocks the door at 3:42. Having an animated "friend" that gets a collectible for you is very original. I thought I had to find a way to reach the key, but that's not the case and it's a cool twist. Finally, at 3:47, the rotating part is integrated into the coin extremely well, before you get the coin. • 3rd coin: Viprin Certified. For this coin, you have to touch all the arrows from 3:53 until 4:00. This fires one of the arrows to open up a path at the top, and hitting a lever here moves out a black orb. Hitting the black orb fires a dart, popping the balloons holding the next platforms, taking you below the normal route. This is not something I've seen before. Because of the character limit, I simply cannot explain more, but what you do is quite self-explanatory from the video. Everything from here until 4:32 is an alternate path, and at the end you use the sword to kill a bug holding the coin, giving you the coin. ★ Become a Member of my channel for special perks: youtube.com/vipringd/join - VIDEO INFO - Game (version): Geometry Dash (2.11) Level: The Tempest by rafer ID: 78471838 Music: Fight For The Present by nstryder newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1016745 - OTHER - Discord: discord.gg/viprin Twitch: twitch.tv/viprin Twitter: twitter.com/vipringd Merchandise: teespring.com/stores/viprin Thumbnail by Erdyuri: youtube.com/channel/UCc6dBMhJ-mH-N2h6cC-O0Lg Outro by th31: youtube.com/user/LolThe1Guy #design #art #bossfight
